I took my tree to Tree Court

I took my tree to Tree Court

I took my tree to Tree Court.

I'm breaking up with it.

Me: Your Honor, this tree has not performed its tree duties in the almost seven years it has been taking up residence in my garden.  It refuses to have flaking bark like other paperbark maple trees and has barely grown since it was planted.  At one point, Your Honor, my sister thought it was a weed tree that I just let grow there.

They say only the best trees are chosen

They say only the best trees are chosen

The birds flew away when they saw the camera.

They say only the best trees are chosen...

Oh, pardon me. Before I get too far along with this blog post, let me introduce myself.

I am Malus 'Guinzam', but most folks just call me Guinevere®. I'm  a flowering crabapple tree. Having said that I know just what you are thinking. Diseases! Crabapples dropping everywhere!

What does it do?

What does it do?

Probably a little of both.

It's a pretty little tree, or could be under the right growing conditions.  It has a unique bloom which looks like a little pink bell.  In the top picture, the bells are just beginning to open.

In the fall, each bell shaped

Garden fairies explain green Ginkgo leaves

Garden fairies explain green Ginkgo leaves

Garden fairies here.

We are garden fairies and we are not tattle tales but we feel that certain events here need to brought to the forefront so they can be explained.

First and foremost at the forefront of our minds is how a certain group of garden fairies, who shall not be named because they are tree fairies, had a big ol' time a few weeks ago.

Now, we do not know what went on but we know

Paperbark Maple

Paperbark Maple

I opened the blinds this morning and gasped with delight.

Wait, that's not quite what happened.

I opened the blinds this morning, jumped back in delight and stared in awe.

I'm not sure that's quite the way it happened, either.

I opened the blinds this morning and found myself staring at the fall color on the leaves of the paperbark maple, Acer griseum. A thousand memories of autumn flashed
