Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - August 2015

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day - August 2015

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for August 2015.

Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in central Indiana, the signs and blooms point toward the beginning of the end of summer.

How can that be?  Wasn't it just spring yesterday?

Such is how the season goes and no matter if we keep up or not, time marches on, and so do the flowers.

In my garden, the surprise lilies (Lycoris squamigera

Zinnia

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for July 2015.

Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in central Indiana, the garden season is in full swing and on those days when it isn't raining, it's nice to go out and see bright, cheerful flowers like the common zinnias.

I do believe no summer garden is complete without some zinnias.

They come in nearly all colors.

Ceanothus americanus

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for June 2015.

If you came in person today to my USDA Hardiness zone 6a garden in central Indiana, we could sit in the garden and listen to the buzzing of bees and the songs of the birds while sipping iced tea.

And we could talk about flowers and plants, of course.

I have a "tea" of sorts blooming in my garden today and the bees

Clematis integrifolia

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for May 2015.

I hardly know where to start here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in central Indiana.  We've had a wonderful spring, for the most part. There are flowers everywhere and lots of lush, green growth.

I'll start with a new-to-me-this-year flower, Clematis integrifolia.  This is one of those clematis that isn't a vine,

Brunnera macrophylla

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for April 2015.

Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in central Indiana, it is most assuredly spring and every day something new is blooming.

When I went out to take pictures for bloom day, I almost missed the pretty little blue flowers of False Forget-me-not, Brunnera macrophylla.  The plants are hidden from view,  but I caught

Iris reticulata 'Katharine Hodgkin'

Welcome to Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day for March 2015.

Wow.  Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in Central Indiana, the last few days have  left me nearly breathless as I run around the garden taking pictures of blooms in the front and in the back.

In the front, a few solitary blooms of Iris reticulata 'Katharine Hodgkin' showed up yesterday.  I

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - February 2015

Welcome to Garden Bloggers's Bloom Day for February 2015.

If you have been posting faithfully for bloom day since the beginning, you are now starting your ninth year of bloom day posts.

Yes, that's right. If you've been playing along since the first post back in February 2007, you really do now have eight years of an online journal of blooms in your garden.  And you probably claimed you
