Water filtration is important for all irrigation systems. Filters can extend the life and lower the maintenance on, Drip and Sprinkler irrigation systems.
Screen Filter
Screen filters are probably the most common filters and least expensive. It is used to separate sand and fine particles out of water for irrigation or industrial applications. Typical screen materials include Nylon, Polypropylene, Stainless steel and Polyester. These are recommended for filtering out organic matter such as algae. Corrosion resistant, easy to install and also needs low maintenance.
Screen filters ability to remove contaminants from water before they leach their nutrients make them popular choices for recirculating agricultural systems. Screen filters are cleaned by flushing them with a stream of water or removing the screen and cleaning it by hand. Effective in both drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.
Disk Filter
Disk Filters are similar to screen filter except that the filter cartridge is made of a number of discs stacked on top of each other like a pile of poker chips. Water passes through the small grooves in between and impurities are trapped behind. Disk filters provide excellent performance; can be cleaned easily and UV resistant. Safe maximum pressure drop is 0.5 kg/cm2.
Disk filters are good at removing both particulates like sand and organic matter. Commonly used in drip and sprinkler irrigation, can be used in combination with Screen filter for excellent result.
Sand Filter or Gravel Filter
Sand Filters are used to remove organic material from irrigation system when water source is ponds, rivers or canals. The level of filtration depends on the sand used in filter.
Hydrocyclone Filter
Hydrocyclone filters are used in irrigation systems to remove sand and silt particles from irrigation water. Made out of mild steel construction and it is hydro-dynamically designed to create maximum centrifugal action to separate particles heavier than water. Efficiently removes sand and silt particles of size higher than 75 Microns and specific gravity more than 2.65 with maximum operating pressure of 10 kg/cm2.See also :
