What is the difference between surface drip irrigation and subsurface drip irrigation?
In surface drip irrigation laterals are laid on the surface of the field whereas in subsurface laterals are buried in soil and laid across the field.
Advantages of Subsurface Drip Irrigation
In Subsurface Drip Irrigation evaporation is minimized and water is used more efficiently. In this method, water is transported through laterals that are buried in soil near the root zone. Suitable for Arid and Windy locations. High degree of control over water application is obtained and risk of direct contact with crop and labors is reduced.
