Day 2752 - what does Pteronophobia mean?
Friday FluffWho's afraid of the big bad ... feather?
There are a lot of phobias in this world, but one of the most interesting I've heard about in recent times is pteronophobia which is the fear of being tickled by feathers.
The word comes from the Ancient Greek word of pteron (which means feather) and phobia (which means an extreme irrational fear of something).
It is generally accepted that phobias come about from a combination of traumatic events and heredity or genetics. So don't traumatise your kids with feathers people!
How's that for a Friday Fun Fact!
What are you afraid of?
Do feathers scare you?
