The Power of the Lonely Bouquet

"No act of kindness,
no matter how small,
is ever wasted."
                            -Aesop

"Random Acts of Kindness" is one of humanity's most uplifting concepts.  I not only find the idea inspiring and enriching, but also a little mischievous and fun.  So when I heard of Lonely Bouquet Day, I felt like I had found the Holy Grail of Surprise Kindness.

What is Lonely Bouquet Day?  Simply put, it is a day dedicated to spreading goodwill and happiness with flowers. The tradition was started by Fleuropean, a small flower farm and design studio located in Belgium.  What began as a local grassroots movement to spread the joy of flowers has blossomed into an international phenomenon.  This year the date is set for Sunday, June 28th.

How do I join in?  Anyone can participate, and although the "official date" is slated for June 28th, this kind of surprise kindness can take place any and every day if you want.  Just follow these three steps:
Step 1: Purchase/gather/pick a selection of flowers and arrange to your liking.
Step 2: Add a tag that reads "Take me home!" or "Adopt me!" or whatever tickles your fancy.
Step 3: Abandon the bouquet in a public place for some lucky stranger to find.

To make it even more fun, you can add some details to your "Take Me!" tag to direct the lucky flower recipient to Lonely Bouquet's Facebook, Twitter, and/or website, where they can upload photos of their found treasure!  You can also register and track your flowers with the Lonely Bouquet Map which will show all the gifted flower power across the world.  These additional tracking elements (including the option to add a QR code!) has made the Lonely Bouquet Movement THE geocaching activity of the flower world.

This Sunday, see what kind of smiles you can spread with flowers! And keep us informed; we'd love to see what your Lonely Bouquet looks like or what kind of bouquet you have found. Feel free to post a photo on our Facebook page. Have fun spreading the love!
